Melita DeBellis, CPCC is an entrepreneur and Life Coach based in beautiful and idyllic Richmond, Vermont who works with individuals seeking midlife redirection and renewal in their lives.
Professionally, Melita holds a BA in Spanish from the University of Vermont, and a Juris Doctor degree from the National Law Center, George Washington University in Washington, DC. She has been trained and certified in coaching by the Coaches Training Institute of San Rafael, California and is a member of the International Coach Federation.
Melita’s professional experience began in Washington, DC as an attorney specializing in the practice of immigration law. Her legal background took her into the area of employment law, which led to many years of experience as a corporate human resource executive. Returning to Vermont in 1996, Melita’s professional path journeyed through the manufacturing, non-profit / human services, and consulting arenas, including three years in human resources management with Ben & Jerry’s Homemade. After discovering coaching and pursuing formal training and certification in 2002, Melita established her business Turning-Point-Coaching in January of 2003. In early 2009 Melita launched her new business, Midlife Unlimited (www.MidlifeUnlimited.com) to expand her focus in the area of midlife renewal. Its goal is to bring information, inspiration, and a variety of resources to the midlife and “boomer” audience. She is also a partner in Third Age Partners (www.ThirdAgePartners.net) with her colleague, Nancy Cosgriff.
In her professional capacity, Melita coaches individuals and groups, conducts workshops, teaches coaching skills to employees of the State of Vermont, offers retirement transition planning programs within organizations, and speaks publically on the topic of midlife renewal and redirection.
Melita and Nancy are co-authors of the training program, “Coaching for Third Age Renewal and Response-Ability”. This program is based on the groundbreaking research of sociologist and author Dr. William Sadler, author of “The Third Age, Six Principles of Growth and Renewal after 40” and “Changing Course – Navigating Life after 50”, and is specifically designed to meet the challenging needs of individuals seeking a new sense of personal fulfillment, contribution, and identity as their roles shift in the second half of life. In addition to using this program with their clients, Melita and her colleague, Nancy Cosgriff, have been teaching this program to other coaches across the country since the fall of 2005. Melita and Nancy have authored a “self study” version of this program, called “Thriving! A Grower’s Guide for Renewal and Response-Ability after Fifty.”
Melita enjoys a satisfying life of purpose and meaning living in the shadows of the beautiful Green Mountains, where she lives with her husband, Michael (another coach and fellow “Third Ager”), and wonderful pug dog, Olivia. Melita is also the very proud stepmother of her two adult sons, Sean and Pat.
